Doctors also have a little metal tube with a light on the end of it. It is called an otoscope. With an otoscope the doctor can look deep inside your ears all the way to the eardrum. They can also tell if there is fluid behind the eardrum. The eardrum is usually a light shade of pink, but if it gets infected it will become red and swollen.
