Going to the Doctor

Your Throat

Open your mouth up wide and say Ahh! Doctor's like to check out what is happening inside your mouth and down your throat. He looks at your tongue and tonsils and checks to see if they are red or swollen. That usually happens when you have a sore throat, but when you are healthy they should be fine. The doctor also checks the sides of your neck to see if the glands are swollen. You can check your own glands now if you want. Then check them again if you ever get a sore throat. They may feel quite different. When you are healthy you can hardly feel them.
