How Much Can You Exhale

Materials Needed:

• Several balloons that are the same size.

Procedure

1. Wet the end of a balloon
2. Blow the balloon up as much as you can with only one breath.
3. Fully blow up the balloon. Count how many breaths it takes you to do this.

Observations

1. Was it hard to blow the balloon up with one breath?
2. Ask a number of friend to do the activity too. Was anyone abole to fully inflate the balloon with just one breath?
3. Did anyone have difficulty blowing up the balloon?
4. Was there a difference in the number of breaths need between boys and girls?
5. Was there a difference in the number of breaths needed when you compare shorter people to taller.
